Power distribution systems increase reliability and machine uptime
Würth Elektronik
Würth Elektronik ICS will be exhibiting at iVT Expo in Cologne, and the trade fair is the ideal platform for the solutions provider of power distribution, signal transmission and function control in mobile machines and commercial vehicles to present its market-specific systems, components and services. The focus will be on the company’s 48V and high-voltage power distributors based on printed circuit boards.
Würth presents its customers with a cost-efficient and adaptable product family for their 48V electrical architecture based on its successful REDline Power Boxes platform. The REDline Power Boxes are power distributors that are available in standard housings with a customer-specific circuit board and are designed as standard for 12/24V electrical systems. Solutions for 48V electrical systems can be implemented using components such as connectors, fuses and relays that are specially designed for the 48V voltage range. A comprehensive portfolio guarantees maximum modularity. This allows OEMs to implement the main power distribution for small electric vehicles or electrify parts of their system for larger machines.
Customer-specific HV power distribution units (PDUs) for powertrain electrification will also be exhibited at the booth. Würth’s PDUs in the voltage range of 60 to 1000 VDC ensure stable and secure connections for an optimal distribution of power between battery, onboard charger, inverter and other consumers such as heaters or DC-DC converters. The PCB-based solution using press-fit technology delivers a space- and cost-saving design, low contact resistance and a high level of mechanical stability.
The compact, PCB-based power distributors in sealed, corrosion-proof housings allow important functions and components to be integrated. These include fuses and other protective devices; pre-charging functions; current, voltage and temperature measurement; insulation monitoring; HVIL; and shielding. Parts of battery management can also be integrated into PDUs. This reduces the overall size of the system and makes it more reliable.
“Our comprehensive portfolio of solutions for power distribution, signal transmission and function control provides users with all the options they need to optimize their electrification solutions,” explains Jean-Baptiste Delcroix, product manager for power management at Würth. “Our experienced teams of specialists help customers to implement exactly the specific solutions they require for their individual applications.”
