Edge computing with combined VCU and inverter
Aradex
The vehicle control unit (VCU) is the central ‘intelligence’ of the machine and includes all machine-specific software. It can also be used for cloud services and data storage.
The VECTOPOWER smart inverters from Aradex include an internal PLC function that works in real time with a 0.5ms cycle. Combined with the integrated FPGA chip, it is the perfect base for measurement and control close to the e-motor as an ‘actor’ of the system.
With this synergistic combination of VCU and inverter, Aradex realizes edge computing on the e-motors as actors.
A special highlight is the VirtualSensorTechnology, which allows the torque of the motor to be determined in real time and at very high resolution, without any additional sensor.
